Why we loved Mallorca & Barcelona
This one is two trips in one, and the switch between them is the point. The first eight days are a Mallorca road trip with four bases and one rental car. You start in Palma with a cathedral on the water and a hammam to sleep off the flight, then take the mountain road to Sóller for Deià, Valldemossa, and the hairpins down to Sa Calobra. From there it's the long beaches and the Formentor lighthouse up north, a concert in the Drach Caves, and finally the south, where Caló des Moro and Es Pontàs are worth the early alarm.
Then a short flight puts you in Barcelona and the rhythm flips. You park the car and walk: Casa Milà and La Sagrada Família, a food tour through the markets, a cooking class, and a cocktail bar you enter through a fridge door. One day you rent a car again for the Costa Brava, with Girona in the morning and coves all afternoon. Mallorca rewards the early start and Barcelona rewards the late table, and twelve days gives you room for both.
